America in Transition

The 2024 has come to its conclusion. Donald Trump and JD Vance will be settling into four years of presidency in the coming year. What can America look forward to?

After the 2020 election concluded and Biden was declared the winner over Trump, the then-president did not urge a peaceful transition but instead made claims that the election had been stolen from him. This presidential election did not see the same conflict, but instead saw a call for peace.

Kamala Harris gave a speech at Howard University on Wednesday, November 6th, pleading for Americans to respect and honor the results of the election. This was no doubt done with hopes of avoiding another situation like January 6, 2021, which saw a premeditated storming of the US Capitol Building.

The differences between losers of the 2020 and 2024 elections may give hope to the country that another insurrection will not occur and violence in American politics can finally be put to rest. Though this election was emotionally charged for many, it can be agreed that the voting process is strong and allows for all voting citizens to have their voices heard.

  1. I really enjoyed getting to read your blog for this week. I think it provided a sense of hope and positivity to show the upsides of this presidential election and reflects that the United States will continue to show respect to others despite recent concerns. It was certainly a heated election as so much was on the line; however, seeing so many people get involved and vote for the first time was truly remarkable. Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. You provided a thoughtful reflection on the transition of power following the 2024 election. Acknowledging the differences in post-election responses between 2020 and 2024 offers hope for a more peaceful political future. The emphasis on unity and respect for democratic processes is particularly constructive.
